The Face & The Photographer
A model used to demonstrate studio lighting. I consider this "street photography" because I included the audience and the photographer, AND the model was not posing for me. Kind of funny...the demo photographer ran out of memory and didn't know how to format the card!

Painful Transition
Lesson learned....no way to break in a new pair of boots!
After a summer of walking barefoot (at home) or wearing thongs & sandals, it was time of put on a pair of new Fall boots. They were very comfortable, even with 2-inch heels, and so I mistakenly thought wearing them for a day at the Newark Museum would work. Big mistake! I was there from 11:30 am to 8:30 pm and literally on my feet for most of that time...result...the walking wounded. It was my toes that got "broken in," not the boots!

Up On The Roof!

Came across these photos in an old album my mother had put together. Highschool Graduation Prom June 1951.
Yikes....it's depressing what 60 years, 60 pounds and the pull of gravity can do! As I recall, I found the dress for less than $20 on a shop on 14th Street, NYC. It was all gussied up with big rhinestoned flowers which I replaced with little white satin bows. Mom made the black & white stole (which I still have) from left over materials.
From a photography point of view, I think these are really good shots set up by a 16 year old and taken by her 12 year old kid sister, with what was probably a Kodak Baby Brownie from the local drugstore.
Using the tarred chimney stack on the roof of the 5-story walk-up apartment building we lived in on St. Marks Place in NYC was really smart!
I'm also nostalgic for the days when a couple of young girls could go on the roof of a NYC tenement with a radio, lemonade & a blanket...otherwise known as "Tar Beach" instead of taking the long subway ride to Coney Island.

Black & White Coffee(shop)
The song and the black & white photography just seem to belong here....or maybe I just like scruffy-haired kids!

Dog Days in Portland
Kind of sad when man's best friend turns his back on you! The grounds outside the Portland Art Museum. Actually, I think the young man was doing some repair work on the sculpture, but I was doing my Henri Cartier-Bresson thing and caught him in an off-guard moment.
The only art lover in the bunch...the little child...Look, doggy!
